JAMES P.NOLAN, JR
James P. Nolan, Jr. is a second generation Funeral Director in the Nolan family. The oldest son of Jim & Anne Nolan, Founders, Jim graduated from Northport High School in 1957, attended American Academy for Funeral Service in Manhattan, graduated in 1959, and earned his license in 1961.
Jim served in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam Era. Upon his return, he immersed himself in his work and community as a volunteer fireman for twenty years, serving in both the Northport and East Northport Fire Departments.
A career member of the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association, he sat on the board from 1991 through 2006. He was elected Treasurer and served from 1996 through 1998, and remains active today. In 1996, Jim became active in the New York State Funeral Directors Association. Serving as a Representative, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President, he then took office as President of the NYSFDA in August 2002. He continues his involvement with the NYSFDA as a member of the Board of Directors. He serves on the Policy Board for the National Funeral Directors Association.
A parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in East Northport since 1966, Jim has served as a Eucharistic Minister since 1974.
Retiring from the Funeral Home in December 2005, he continues his interest in funeral service.
Jim and his wife Pamela have been married for over 40 years. They have lived in East Northport all of those years.
PETER J. NOLAN
Peter J. Nolan is a second generation Funeral Director in the Nolan family. The youngest of Jim and Anne’s four children, Peter graduated from Northport High School in 1962 and attended Simmons Institute of Funeral Service Mortuary School in Syracuse New York, in 1963. Upon graduating from Simmons, Peter returned to Northport, to work with his father and brother at the Funeral Home. In 1965 he became a licensed Funeral Director.
Peter’s formal involvement with his community began in 1965 when joined the Northport Fire Department. He continues his service in the Fire Department and currently serves as the Hook and Ladder Co. Treasurer, and is also the Assistant Treasurer to the Department.
In 1970 he joined Northport-East Northport Kiwanis Club, serving a term as President from 1979-1980, and remains active today. Initially a member of the Northport Village Board as Trustee 1975, Peter was elected Mayor of the Village of Northport in 1978; an office he held until 1998.
A life-long parishioner of St. Philip Neri Parish in Northport, Peter currently serves as Trustee on the Board of Directors.
Peter and his wife Laure have been married for over 30 years. They reside in Northport Village.
MARK J. NOLAN
Mark J. Nolan, represents the third generation Funeral Director in the Nolan family. A graduate of Commack High School in 1990, Mark attended the University of Rhode Island, transferred to SUNY New Paltz, and graduated with a B.S. in Political Science in 1995. Like his father and grandfather before him, Mark attended American Academy-McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in Manhattan. He began his career at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, Inc. in 1996.
Mark was a Board member of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association from 1999 until 2008, and is now an active member on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association. Joining Northport Rotary Club in 2003, he currently sits on the Board of Directors. An active member of St. Philip Neri Parish, Mark has served as a Parish Council member since 2004. Mark has coached Softball for Northport Little League, and with his wife, Nora, has coached Girls lacrosse for the Northport Lacrosse Club.
Mark and his wife Nora reside with their children in Northport Village.
MARTIN S. KOHLER
Martin S. Kohler is a life-long resident of the Northport-East Northport community. A graduate of Northport High School in 1981, Marty attended Farmingdale College to attain his Mortuary Science degree and began his career at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, Inc. in 1983.
Currently Past President and active member of the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Director’s Association. He is a member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Fort Salonga and is a Trustee on the St. Philip Neri Parish Cemetery Board. Marty is active in Local adult softball leagues, loves the outdoors for a round of golf or a day of fishing, he is a dedicated Mets fan. Lets go Mets!!!
Marty and his wife Karen reside in East Northport.
DOUGLAS R. ROBINSON
Douglas R. Robinson is a life-long resident of the Northport-East Northport community. A graduate of Northport High School in 1980, he attended SUNY Farmingdale and became a licensed funeral director in 1987. He began his career at Nolan and Taylor-Howe Funeral Home, Inc. in 1986.
An active member at St. Philip Neri Church, Doug also serves on the Board of Directors of the Northport Rural Cemetery.
Doug and his wife Regina reside with their children in Eaton’s Neck
JOHN S. RANNAZZISI, JR.
John S. Rannazzisi, Jr. is our newest addition to the staff at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home. John graduated from Smithtown High School in June of 2004. He matriculated to Nassau Community College in the fall and majored in Mortuary Science. He began working for Nolan & Taylor-Howe in October of 2005 as a student. After Graduating from Nassau Community College in May of 2006, John served his one year Residency with us. He passed the New York State Law test in July of 2007, and is now a Licensed Funeral Director. John resides in Smithtown, NY.
BARBARA L. MAY
Barbara L. May, a longtime resident of Hauppauge, graduated from Brentwood High School and attended Suffolk Community College. She began her career at Nolan & Taylor-Howe Funeral Home in June 2004, as our Office Manager. Prior to working at Nolan’s she worked in the Burglar Alarm Industry for 18 years. She is proud mother of two and Grandmother of one.
